Your baby’s first year goes by so quickly.
From tiny newborn snuggles to curious little smiles, the first birthday is a moment worth celebrating in a big way.
Cake smash sessions are designed to capture the joy, personality, and excitement of turning one with playful portraits and sweet messy moments.
These photos become treasured memories of this special milestone.
2-3 weeks after your session you will receive your gallery to choose your final images and finalize any additional images you would like to add on.
After Your Session
Days leading up to your session, you will receive a prep guide. 2 weeks before the session any final details will need to be discussed. Day of the session we will start with some formal photos, then get into the cake.
Before your session
You should book your smash cake session date 3-4 weeks before when you want the photos by to allow for processing. You will be sent a contract link to set your date. We will begin the process of planning your session based on your theme.

Session Fee & Digital Package
Your custom photography experience starts at $450. It includes an online pre-session consultation, creative planning, a session lasting up to 4 hours at my home studio for newborns and soft editing of at least 20 images presented to you in an online gallery. You will have your choice of 5 digital files to be fully edited & downloaded with print release. Prints, Canvases, additional digital files, and other products are available for purchase in the gallery, but not included in session fee.

DO I BRING THE CAKE?
No — the cake is included with your cake smash session.
Each cake is custom designed to match the set and is created by the wonderful team at You’ve Been Cupcaked in Wallingford, ensuring it looks beautiful in your baby’s photos.
If your baby has food allergies, the cake will be provided by Dee’s One Smart Cookie, which specializes in allergy-friendly baked goods.
This way everything is coordinated and ready for your session so you can simply arrive and enjoy the experience.
The studio includes a selection of simple outfits and styling options. I will also guide you on clothing choices that photograph beautifully with your session setup.

Cake smash sessions are typically photographed when babies are 10–11 months old, just before their first birthday celebration.
Booking a few months in advance helps ensure availability & enough time to design custom smash cake set.
