There are tons of newborn photography poses and it can be hard to describe them all. I created this newborn pose guide to help bridge the gap between photographer terms and moms so we can all be on the same page. If you see a pose that is not on this list, reach out and I can certainly add them to the guide.
Bum Up
This pose is characterized by the baby being on their belly with their bum up. This one is such a classic and can be used for many different angles & prop variations.
Side Lying
Froggy, or heads on hands
The froggy pose is a composite images of 2 different images that are photoshopped later to take the parents hands out of the photo. Baby is always supported during this pose. This pose requires the baby to be in a deep sleep for maximum safety.
Potato Sack
Wrapped Huck Finn
Unwrapped Huck Finn
Swaddled
Bucket Pose
Tucked In Overhead

Bum Up Bed Pose
Head on Arms
Taco Pose
Criss-Cross Wrap
Hands Tucked Side Lying
*disclaimer* If you are a new newborn photographer, or mom, looking for newborn photography poses. Please be aware that many of these poses have been perfected over time and dangerous poses require composites in order to obtain. Baby isn’t always just sitting in that position as it may pose a risk.
